This privacy policy applies to the Pinclip app for Mac, together with any related services operated by Lev Kosyk, including this website (collectively, the "Application"). Lev Kosyk is hereby referred to as the "Service Provider".
What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?
The Application does not collect, log, or send any personal information to the Service Provider. Registration is not required, and the Application contains no analytics, advertising or tracking. The Service Provider does not run any servers that receive your data.
What stays on your Mac
To do its job, the Application keeps what you copy on your Mac. This data never leaves your Mac, except for the iCloud sync described below, and the Service Provider has no access to it.
- Clipboard history and pins. Text, links and images you copy, and the locations (not the contents) of files you copy, are stored together with the name of the app they came from and when they were copied. They are stored encrypted with AES-256, and the encryption key is kept in your Keychain. You choose how many items are kept, and you can have older items deleted automatically or the history cleared when the Application quits.
- Sensitive items. By default, passwords copied from password managers are not saved, and neither are API keys and tokens that the Application recognizes. You can add your own rules, exclude apps, and have one-time codes and card numbers removed automatically after a time you choose.
- Text in images. Text in copied images is recognized on your Mac with Apple's built-in text recognition. Images are not uploaded anywhere.
- Settings are stored on your Mac.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, the Application syncs your pins and groups between your Macs through your own private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). Your clipboard history is never synced. To upload a pin, the Application briefly keeps an unencrypted copy of its contents in its cache folder and deletes it once iCloud has received it. Data in your iCloud account is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; the Service Provider cannot see or access it. You can turn sync off in the Application's settings.
Permissions
- Accessibility. If you allow it, the Application uses Accessibility access only to paste for you: after you choose an item, it presses ⌘V in the app you were using. It does not use this permission to read other apps. Without it, items are copied and you paste them yourself.
- Files you choose. The Application reads a file only when you pick it yourself, for example an app you want to exclude.
Does the Application collect precise real time location information of the device?
This Application does not collect information about the location of your device.
Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?
Since the Service Provider does not collect any information, no data is shared with third parties. Pins and groups you sync are stored by Apple in your iCloud account, as described above.
This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. It remembers the language you choose in your browser's local storage; that choice never leaves your browser. The hosting provider may process technical data, such as your IP address, to deliver the pages.
What are my opt-out rights?
You can clear your history and delete pins at any time in the Application, turn off iCloud sync in its settings, or uninstall the Application.
If you contact the Service Provider directly or voluntarily provide information by other means, you may request deletion of that information by contacting kosyklev@gmail.com.
Children
The Application is not intended for children under 16 years of age, or such higher age as required by applicable law. The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit data from children or market to them. Since the Application does not collect personal information through normal use, children's data is not at risk from use of the Application alone. If you voluntarily provide personal information through other means and are under 16 years of age, your parent or guardian must provide consent on your behalf where permitted by law.
Security
Because the Application does not collect personal data, and what you copy is kept encrypted on your Mac, the risk of personal data exposure is minimal. However, no security system is completely secure. The Service Provider implements reasonable safeguards to protect systems and any data it holds.
Data Breach Notification
Since the Application does not collect personal data through normal use, the risk of a data breach affecting your personal data is minimal. If a breach occurs involving any data you have voluntarily provided, the Service Provider will notify you as required by applicable law.
Changes
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The Service Provider will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy with an effective date. Where required by law, the Service Provider will seek your consent to material changes before they take effect.

Your Consent
If you voluntarily provide information to the Service Provider and processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
